Nothing about us without us
We create programmes and partnerships that give young people with disabilities a real say in the policies, programmes and decisions that affect their lives. By embedding participation into the structure of our work, we ensure their voices consistently guide what we do.
Too often, their expertise and lived experiences are excluded from policymaking and programme design. At Liliane Fonds, we move beyond one-off consultations, structurally embedding Meaningful & Inclusive Youth Participation (MIYP) across everything we do.
MIYP shapes how we work, not just what we work on. We create environments that value youth voices, provide accessible information, ensure safe spaces, offer fair compensation, and give the support needed for meaningful participation.
Liliane Fonds Youth Panel
Our Youth Panel consists of six young people from different countries who actively contribute their perspectives, ideas and lived experiences to our work.
For example, they have provided input for communication tools, such as a vlogging toolkit and shared insights into how young people use social media for learning, engagement and activism, including on disability inclusion. They have also contributed to advocacy and fundraising efforts, such as advising on lobbying messages and the design of new youth-focused projects.
Our experts
Daphne and Marieke are our experts on Meaningful and Inclusive Youth Participation, championing youth voices at international conferences, the Liliane Fonds Youth Council and projects like Body Talk, as well as research and publications.
