Education becomes a priority in international development following successful lobbying
The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) Netherlands, with Liliane Fonds as a steering group member, has reached a crucial milestone. This achievement reflects our commitment to building a future where inclusive education is not only recognised but also firmly supported and prioritized.
Multiple political parties explicitly recognize the importance of education, laying the foundation for greater structural investments in quality education, especially important for children with disabilities. In addition, through the efforts of the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD), three political parties now state in their election programs that development cooperation must explicitly benefit people with disabilities, a significant step forward. After years of limited political attention, these breakthroughs represent a positive shift.
Our position paper outlines what the new Dutch government must do to position education as a catalyst for development, stability and equal opportunities worldwide.
