What is going on in Cameroon?

Cameroon faces armed conflict in its Northwest and Southwest regions, widespread poverty, and systemic exclusion of children with disabilities. Many have no access to education, healthcare, or employment. Despite ratifying the UNCRPD in 2021, most children with disabilities remain invisible to systems meant to support them.

Facts and figures

  • 1 in 10 people live with a disability
  • 30% of children with disabilities attend school
  • Inclusive schools grew from 5 (2012) to 720 (2023)
