What is going on in Ethiopia
In Ethiopia, children and youth with disabilities face multiple barriers. Deep-rooted stigma, exclusion, and underfunded policies limit access to education, health care, and livelihoods, especially in rural areas. Legal reforms are underway, but practical change is slow. Girls with disabilities are the most affected, facing isolation, limited protection, and no access to support.

In Ethiopia, we partner with Cheshire Ethiopia to support children and youth with disabilities. We do this through inclusive education, home-based rehabilitation, early identification and production of assistive devices. Our focus is on:

- Strengthening CBR structures and supporting families in hard-to-reach areas
- Advocating for national policies
- Increasing government funding and providing a stronger role for Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)
