What is going on in Tanzania?

Tanzania has progressive disability laws, but many children and youth with disabilities remain invisible in practice. Weak enforcement, stigma, poverty, and fragmented services limit access to education, healthcare, and livelihoods. Girls with disabilities face even greater risks of exclusion, violence, and early marriage.

Facts and figures

  • 15% of children with disability can access rehabilitation
  • 50% of children with disabilities finish primary school
  • 80% of people with disabilities work in the informal sector
  • Rehabilitation centers lack staff or assistive technology

Our work in Tanzania

In Tanzania, Liliane Fonds collaborates with Beyond Inclusion (BI) and a network of partners. Our work focuses on early identification, home-based rehabilitation, inclusive education, and family support.

We train community health workers, improve access to assistive technology, and strengthen local disability networks. Together we advocate for stronger policy implementation and inclusive services, especially in remote and underserved regions.
