What is going on in Burkina Faso?
In Burkina Faso, children and youth with disabilities face growing challenges amid insecurity, displacement, and poverty. Conflict has closed thousands of schools and health services, leaving many, especially girls, without essential care and education. Deep-rooted stigma, limited infrastructure and underfunded services further isolate children with disabilities and their families.
Facts and figures
- 10% of children with disabilities attend school
- Only 1 in 5 people with disabilities are employed
- 11% of people with disabilities are literate
