Collaborations

In 2020 and 2021, we formed a consortium with local partners in Guatemala to examine access to medical resources for people with a disability. Establishing the consortium was supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and in association with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The consortium executed a study, and its report was shared with the WHO. Our local partners can use the report’s information and recommendations for lobby and advocacy efforts towards their governments and respond to the needs of children with a disability. Liliane Fonds contributed to an article on the report’s outcomes, published in the spring of 2022.

Over the past years, Liliane Fonds has been involved in various collaborations with the Radboud University and Radboud University Medical Center.In 2021, Liliane Fonds participated in a study conducted by the Radboud University on the effects of Covid-19 on the work of local partners of Dutch development organisations. The study showed that many local organisations sought and found new ways to continue their work during the pandemic, despite complete and often lengthy lockdowns.
Liliane Fonds has been working with Radboud University Medical Center, Levy Mwanawasa (LMMU) Zambia, and our partners in Zambia to develop a training course focused on the health of people with an intellectual disability. This project runs until 2024.
In 2015 Liliane Fonds initiated Breaking down Barriers to enable organisations within and outside our network to enhance the effectiveness and quality of their programmes. We aim to offer relevant evidence and tools in the field of disability inclusive advocacy and development through academic research, facilitated by the Radboud University, and bringing together civil society organisations and researchers from the Netherlands, Cameroon, Sierra-Leone and Zambia.

In the five-year programme (2021-2025) Make Way, we work together with Wemos, VSO, Akina Mama wa Africa, Forum for African Women Educationalists, and the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians Kenya. The programme is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the programme is to encourage an intersectional perspective of SRHR in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.

Together with the Dutch Knowledge Centre for Sexuality and the Rutgers Foundation, we are working on the ‘Bodytalk’ programme in Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia. This programme is aimed at improving the sexual and relational education of children and young people with a disability.

In the countries where we are active we collaborate with other international organisations involved in improving the situation of children with a disability as much as possible, such as the Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and Humanity & Inclusion.

Livit, a Dutch organisation, specialises in orthopaedic aids and is an active partner of Liliane Fonds in improving the quality of orthopaedic aids throughout Rwanda to a responsible level, by making knowledge, expertise and materials available to our partner in Rwanda. Meanwhile, a close bond has developed between Livit employees and our partner in Rwanda. The quality of orthopaedic aids has now improved dramatically throughout the country.
