What is going on in Togo?

Togo has made progress in getting children into school, but access and opportunities remain unequal. Children in rural areas and poorer households face greater barriers to basic services and education. Poverty is significantly higher in rural areas than in urban areas, while insecurity in the north is putting additional pressure on communities and services.

Our work in Togo

In Togo, Liliane Fonds works with the Fédération Togolaise des Associations de Personnes Handicapées (FETAPH), Organizations of People with a Disability, local partners and parents, to improve opportunities for children and youth with disabilities.

Our focus is on improving children and youth’s access to services and autonomy, strengthening parental support systems and access to livelihoods. By fostering collaboration between health professionals and communities, we aim to transform rehabilitation from a service delivered to families into a process built with them. Liliane Fonds and local partners have also worked to make education more inclusive. For example, sign language training for teachers has helped improve communication with deaf children.
