Work and income

According to UN statistics, 82% of disabled people in developing countries live below the poverty line. They are estimated to make up between 15 and 20% of the poor in these countries. Significant, sustained action to support the inclusion of people with disabilities in employment promotion and poverty reduction programmes is therefore required.

Economic independence
Youngsters working in a bakeryThe Partner Organisations supported by the Liliane Foundation work to improve the economic situation of youngsters and their parents. The goal is that they will become financially independent. The Partner Organisations and the mediators start by assisting youngsters to find education appropriate to the labour market. Then they support them in finding a job or starting their own business.

The Liliane Foundation is in the process of developing work and income activities with a specific focus on micro-financing, income generating projects and inclusion on the labour market.
