Direct Child Assistance
The core intervention strategy of the Liliane Foundation is Direct Child Assistance. This strategy focuses on the individual needs of each child. The strategy is carried out through Partner Organisations and local contacts (mediators): they are the direct link with the children. After they have assessed the child’s situation, the mediators develop an individual rehabilitation plan. They then provide access to local services suitable for the child and fitting with the local resources. Children develop best in their own environment. Assistance based on their local context is, usually, most appropriate and efficient.
Holistic approach
Partner Organisations and mediators operate under a holistic approach. All aspects of the child’s wellbeing are taken into account. The assistance that partners and mediators provide therefore includes all areas ranging from education, integration and participation within the family and the community, to economic independence of youngsters and their parents or caregivers. Due to budget limitations the Liliane Foundation may not always be able to cover costs for all these areas. In those instances the Partner Organisation/mediator is encouraged to engage with local organisations in order to provide each child with the assistance he or she needs.
